Why buy a mattress protector

A good mattress protector forms an effective barrier, preventing moisture in the fabric, and at the same time allows the mattress to breath.

It will prevent soiling and deterioration of the fabric. It also promotes hygiene by making it difficult for dustmites to breed.

An abused, unsanitary mattress has no guarantee, so investing in a mattress protector is highly recommended.

Queen Bed size - Width

Measured from outside to outside, across the head or the foot of the bed, the width of a queen bed should be approximately 152cm. Due to the materials used in the construction of the bed there can be a slight variance in the size.

Queen Bed size - Length

Queen beds are available in 2 standard lengths (most manufacturers offer both).
  • 188cm - By far the most popular size and referred to as Standard Length.
  • 200cm - At 12cm longer it's referred to as Extra Length.
When deciding on what length to buy, you should take into account your height and the size of your room. Generally spring beds, in either std or extra length cost the same, while extra length beds made from foam tend to cost more.

Queen or King size bed

150cm is ideally the minimum width for two people sharing (or) more if you're likely to be joined by dogs, cats and children.

A king size bed at 30cm, wider than a queen, requires considerably more space than some rooms allow.

It's advisable to measure properly, allowing enough space for unrestricted movement around your bed.
